Who is the zookeeper?
I am a twenty-something college student and certified crazy cat lady. My first word, in fact, was “kitty”. My parents indulged my lifelong love of animals and were always supportive, even as I turned our home into a veritable zoo. We’ve wide assortment of pets over the years, from dogs to ferrets to geese to guinea pigs. At peak capacity, we might have housed well over a dozen animals. Most were rescued. Some were later rehomed. All were loved.
Growing up I’ve gained more responsibilities and less free time, and the zoo has dwindled to just a few longterm residents. But I’ve never been able to shake the calling. For awhile I volunteered at area shelters; now I spend my time helping out other pet owners via the internet. The rest of the time I spend with my family, human and animal alike. My pets have been a constant source of love and joy. Isn’t that what it’s all about?
