so soon after I awake
cannot be ignored

“Did you leave a message on my cellphone?”
“Yeah.”
“Why?”
“Well, you weren’t on Skype and I wanted to get in touch with you.”
“Why didn’t you just walk upstairs?”
“It’s too hard.”

As the sun was setting, and the thunderclouds were rolling in…
The air turned orange.
No longer dark, it glowed with color, illuminating our yard.
We stopped what we were doing just to watch it.
It was amazing.
And a little frightening.
We joked about doomsday.
The orange faded to red.
The red became purple.
The sky grew dark again.
