“Christmas” has been totally bastardized by secularism and consumerism. It just has. For those who do celebrate Holy Nativity (Christmas) as a religious holiday, we have an understanding of this day that is TOTALLY different from people around us who just celebrate “Christmas”. It’s so much more than buying and wrapping stuff. It’s so much more, even, than generosity and good will. It’s radical, universe-changing stuff that we are acknowledging, whether we celebrate the Nativity on December 25th or at any other time.
Making sure that a Jewish, Messianic, Muslim, or Hindu person knows that I don’t acknowledge their celebration and that I only want to hear about my holiday, say, in a store that is solely interested in benefiting monetarily from this holy day…well, it kinda seems like missing the point.
