play in the park

Peter Pan at Prescott Park in Portsmouth.

(say that five times fast)

We went to see the play on opening night. We ended up leaving at intermission – it was late, and the mosquitoes were really getting to us – but we want to go back later in the summer to see the rest. If you’re in the area, you should really check it out. Captain Hook is absolutely fantastic.

in which we learn that nature, above all, does its own thing

While sitting in the reading room the other day, sometime in the early afternoon, Hannah and I discovered an amazing thing: that there were chipmunks in the lilac tree which blooms in the front garden.

And they were sleeping.

This being one of the cutest things that I have ever seen, naturally, I had to record it. Two little chipmunks taking a bona fide siesta right outside our windows.

cuteness is...

afternoon siesta

They began to stir after a little while, and then started chasing each other up, down and around the branches. I switched my camera to video mode to record it because, seriously, it was SO CUTE.

Then, for a moment, I lost sight of them.

Hannah: “What are they doing?…oh man…we probably shouldn’t be recording this.”
