“Is that a month’s supply?”

“Nope,” I answered. “That’s a week’s supply for six people.”

The older woman kindly shook her head and told me, “Well, I certainly wouldn’t want your grocery bill.”

Maybe not, but you wouldn’t believe the muscles I’ve built lugging this cart around on a weekly basis.

Our menu this week:

Tonight: “Finger Food Friday” (sweet potato fries, asparagus, and spinach-stuffed mushrooms)
Saturday: Fried Eggplant with Sliced Tomatoes and Roasted Green Beans
Sunday: Smoky Refried Bean Soup [so, so yummy]
Monday: Sweet Potato and Black Bean Burritos
Tuesday: Vegetarian Chili and Skillet Cornbread
Wednesday: Cauliflower and Black Bean Stew
Thursday: TLT’s (Tofu, Lettuce and Tomato Sandwiches)

  1. Why do you buy bottled water? Get a fabulously cool SIGG bottle, spend less money, and save the environment!

(I spent $27 on groceries for myself this past week. Your cart would feed me for well over a month%Pr

  2. Honestly, we buy bottled because we’re kind of lazy. We’ve tried and tried to implement different ways to make sure that we’re all drinking enough water without buying the bottles, and nothing has really stuck yet, mostly because it’s hard to get everyone on board.

We spend a little over $300 a week on food (multiple diet restrictions) and household items (toilet paper, shampoo, cleaning supplies, etc.). It is kind of crazy, I admit ;-)

  3. !!!!!!!! y’all are vegetarians? *HIGH FIVE!*

we need to do a recipe swap. and mmmmmmmm sweet potatoes. No one else at my house likes them but me :(

  4. Oh, my, that is one stuffed shopping trolley. You must have some rig muscles, indeed!

Meanwhile, your dinner list sounds positively delectable. :)

  5. Well, that’s roughly two bottles a day for six people for a week. And that’s just the bare minimum of water consumption. I realize we’re not doing the planet a huge favor, but on the plus side, we *do* recycle ;-)

  6. You don’t drink tap water? I’m not judging, I’m genuinely curious. I only drink tap water, I kind of can’t see the point of bottled water.

  7. Our tap water is okay (though really only desirable when very cold). Bottles are just loads more convenient, for us at least. They are one of our few lazy luxuries.

  8. Wow, I’m impressed! I’ve been putting off grocery shopping for a while now and I’m dreading it because I’m sure my cart will look like that!

    Where do you grocery shop?
