Mark asked:
I came across your Prayer of St Basil.
I am thinking about setting to music for a Compline service. What source did you get it from? Did you translate it yourself?
Hi Mark,
I pulled the prayer from a website several years ago, to which I have lost the original link. A quick Google search revealed that it is cited on several Anglican and Catholic websites, so I can only assume that it is genuine and the translation is near accurate. Hope that helps!

Awww, what a sweet picture! Stephie’s coat sure was a lot lighter when she was little.
Thanks, John!
But that’s not Stephanie in the photo
That’s Scully’s fourth kitten and Miko, Stephanie, and PJ’s brother, Anderson. When I have the time I hope to create a page on the site for Scully and her kittens. Anderson was the only kitten to find a forever home away from us, where he is very loved and very spoiled. He shares his home with another cat named Kitty and his hooman parents, who (being avid Red Sox fans) gave him a new name: Schilling. For Schilling’s birthday, we sent him a special gift. Looks like he really enjoyed it, dontcha think?

it’s funny

You can *know* that you’re an overly doting pet guardian, but you don’t always realize just how doting you are until someone comes to visit and they see you in all of your cat snuggling, rabbit wrangling, baby talking glory.
I think that, at first, my relatives were mildly amused by our incredibly sociable cats (and mildly disgusted by the containers of raw meat in the freezer). But it wasn’t long before they were joking about sending their cat here for “kitty reform”.
These spoiled punks don’t know how good they have it…

we are still here

Life became very crazy, very quickly. I’m off from school for the next few days and I’m hoping that things will have the chance to settle down.
Chuck joined Martin at the Bridge last Tuesday. It was not unexpected, but I didn’t have the heart to post about it at the time. Now both of the Mousey Boys have joined Peanut, Beeper and Millie in our little pet cemetery. We have gone from nine pets to five pets in a little over a month. I’ll be just fine if things stay as they are for awhile.
John shared with me this very sweet story: Kittens ‘adopted’ by pet rabbit
I wish I had more photos of when the kittens were little, but unfortunately my computer crashed a couple years ago and I lost most of them. Peanut and Rex were just wonderful with them, affectionate, caring, and most of all, exceedingly patient.

rest in peace

Martin the Warrior (August ‘05 - November ‘07)
Is it November already? My apologies for not yet posting the kitties’ costume pictures. Things have been very busy around the zoo. Most significantly, it seems as though we will soon be saying farewell to the Mousey Boys. They are well over two years old and as my brother put it, with their chronic health problems “they’ve been outrunning death for a very long time.”
Now the end has finally caught up with them and they are just slowly fading away. I cleaned their cages last night and made them as comfortable as possible. Maybe it’s because I’ve used up all my tears, or perhaps because this is the way I would have wanted them to go, quietly and peacefully, but I am not sad for them. They have had good lives and far outlived all expectations for two little mice.
