Happy Halloween

a mouse-eye view

I’m back and my trip was wonderful. A relaxing weekend hanging out with one of my closest friends. And yet…as I sat around her apartment, I kept waiting for a cat or a rabbit or some other furry thing to come around the corner. I worried about exposed electrical cords, leftover food, and small chokeable items left on the floor, until I realized that there was no one there to chew (or choke) on them. It wasn’t so much that I missed my own furkids, but that I had a hard time feeling at home without an animal around. A strange feeling, for sure.
The best part about living with my family?

Auxiliary zookeepers!
I’m off to Pennsylvania for a few days. Hope you and your furry ones have a safe and happy weekend.

one step ahead

Every night when I feed the mice dinner Rex runs over thinking that I (of course) must have something for him. And despite the fact that I never actually have anything, his enthusiasm is undeterred.
Enthusiasm that he expresses by trying to place himself directly under my feet, which means I spend most of the time trying not to trip over him.
Well tonight, I got ahead of the game: I made Rex a ‘ball’, alternating layers of tissues with Craisins. A shred-able, edible treat. And did it work?
Ten minutes later, he’s still going at it.
