dispatches from the zoo

In preparation for my upcoming field school, tonight I provided oversight while my sixteen year old brother went through the routine: he cleaned both mouse cages, changed the rabbits’ bedding (even put the dirty stuff into the wash), cleaned the rabbits’ and cats’ litterboxes - all six of them, refilled hay bins and water bottles, vacuumed the floor, and fed the cats their dinner.
It’s a lot of work running a domestic zoo. But I feel confident that, with checklist in hand, he’ll manage just fine.
Rex: Just don’t forget my meals, and we’ll be okay.

Scully: Hey, all I need is sunshine and a soft spot…and food…and the occasional belly rub.
