Is to be able to place twenty of these on a map for my geography quiz…

A few things:

1. Ignore the fact that I misspelled Novosibirsk. And Kazakhstan.

2. I had to generalize the location of Tibet, as our atlas does not recognize it as an official country. Not only does it not have borders, it’s not even named. This is one of the many ways in which maps can be a tool of political systems.

3. Seeing countries in relation to each other, like China and North Korea, or Iran and Iraq, can be helpful for understanding current tensions.

4. Kazakhstan is bigger than I thought it would be. Bangladesh is smaller. And call me stupid, but I’ve never really thought about the Middle East as being part of the Asian continent. It’s always been just…the Middle East.

5. Beijing looks really cool written out.
