low-entry litterboxes

I found these while poking around the web:http://www.petwerks.com/prodpage.cfm?prod_code=MO400

A low-entry grated litterbox would probably be perfect for rabbits that have mobility issues and have difficulty keeping themselves clean.

I’ve made our very own low-entry box for the rabbits’ new home:

Start with one concrete mixing tub from your local home improvement store (Home Depot should know me by name at this point), some kind of non-slip rubbery material (in this case, a pot holder), and Super Glue.

Cut a portion of the rubber to fit on one corner of the box, and glue it in place.

Repeat this for all four corners, and elsewhere if you so desire. You now have a box that won’t slide around the floor.

You may also, as I chose to do, create a grated cover. Illustrations of that procedure are here. As a final modification, I cut down one side to create easier access for older rabbits who may not want to leap in and out of the box. As you can see, Rex loves it.

well, this is interesting…

“many people with sensory issues report that their symptoms are significantly worse when seasonal allergies crop up.”

Oh joy.

I think my body is finally starting to regulate itself and let the meds do their job, but it was a nightmare for awhile. My sensory issues were definitely worse, and I’m glad to know that’s within the range of ‘normal’, because I felt like I was losing my mind.

Have I mentioned how much I completely and totally adore my siblings?

They’re amazing people, and they’re fun to spend time with, especially with mom and dad gone for the weekend because we tend to fall into a nice little groove. The house is calm, relaxed. There may be music, or TV, but the overall air is one of tranquility.

And yes, hard as it is to believe with a teen and tween in the house, everyone is nice to each other. They’ve been gracious when I lose my cool, which is at once wonderful and incredibly humbling.

Thusfar this weekend the kids have helped each other complete their chores and have volunteered to keep the house clean (even washing the dishes) when I don’t have time to.

We talk a lot, about everything from geography to science fiction. We also goof off. I mean, who else would laugh at my mildy inapropriate photo of an onion?

(tell me that doesn’t look like milk…and a nipple)

I refuse to be amazed at our relationship, because it isn’t all that amazing. Brothers and sisters are people too. Too often sibling interactions seem to be exempt from all social rules. You wouldn’t dare treat a stranger like you treat your younger brother, or call your friend the things you call your sister. It’s just…wrong.

I love my siblings. They’re not perfect, but then again, neither am I. I try to treat them with respect while knowing that, due to age and development, I won’t always get the same in return. But most of the time I do. And it is so worth it.
