15. What is the last film you saw?
A History of Violence – it was very…deliberate. And violent, very graphically violent. But I don’t think it was the violence that was so unnerving, but the fact that you couldn’t distance yourself from it. It wasn’t an action flick with the usual body count, it was just killing, and the audience wasn’t spared a single frame (did I mention it was deliberate?).
Good stuff, though it’s not something I’d go around recommending. Very violent, graphic/disturbing sex scenes (thank goodness for the fast forward button), and liberal application of the f-bomb. And the acting was, well, not so great. Which I think was the most confusing thing of all.
Can someone else who has seen it tell me why William Hurt was Oscar nominated for all 10 minutes of screen time? It’s not that he wasn’t good but…well, he wasn’t that great either.
