I love that spot
on the crown of their heads
where I can plant a kiss
and it is soft
and smells of all things kitten
mother’s licks
and human head rubs.
Its kissable
and warm,
the kind of warmth that just assures you
they’re alive.
And they wriggle beneath my kiss
they don’t like me to feel their warmth
against my cheek
they want to go play.
But I hold them a little longer
and kiss their ears
and their whiskered cheeks.
They are so soft.
I love them
I love everything about them
I want to capture this moment
and savor it forever
never forget that smell and soft
and warmth.
